July 1st, 2007. Beaverton, Oregon. RuleSpace has become a member of the Internet Watch Foundation and joins over 70 organisations working together to protect UK internet users and combat illegal content online. RuleSpace is the world’s leading provider of parental controls and has incorporated IWF list filtering into its patented categorisation technology. RuleSpace is the power behind the filtering solutions deployed by many leading ISP’s and mobile phone operators.

CEO of RuleSpace, Alistair Allan said "Illegal content is harmful to children both at its creation and when shared," said Allan. "By joining the IWF and integrating its database with its categorisation engine RuleSpace will provide its clients and future partners with technology that will effectively stamp out the market for images and help to reduce child abuse. We are pleased to be able to support the IWF ."

Peter Robbins, CEO, IWF, said: “The IWF is developing partnerships with a range of organisations, from mobile operators to internet and filtering service providers, all keen to play their part in making the internet a safer space. RuleSpace is an important addition to our membership and we recognise the value of its categorisation technology in providing added robustness to filtering solutions aimed at protecting children. The IWF welcomes RuleSpace and looks forward to working together in the future."

The IWF works with UK Government departments such as the Home Office and the Department of Trade and Industry and has created its database, which enables the filtering of potentially illegal web sites featuring images of child sexual abuse. The Government has stated it wishes to see all UK ISPs block access to sites on the IWF list by 2007. RuleSpace already is the power behind many of world’s leading ISP’s filtering solutions and feels it is well placed to support the IWF in its mission.

The IWF provides the UK’s only authorised internet hotline, allowing the public to report their inadvertent exposure to child abuse images, incitement to racial hatred and criminally obscene content.

About The Internet Watch Foundation

The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) is the only recognized non-statutory organization in the UK operating an Internet ‘Hotline’ for the public and IT professionals to report their exposure to potentially illegal content online.

The IWF works in partnership with UK Government departments such as the Home Office and the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform to influence initiatives and programs developed to combat online abuse. This dialogue goes beyond the UK and Europe, to ensure greater awareness of global issues and responsibilities.
