RuleSpace Realtime Categorization Engines
An
ever-increasing percentage of the content on the Internet cannot be pre-categorized or have its category rating stored in a database. This is especially true of mobile-formatted content where review of mobile carrier logs show that approximately 20% of all content requested by users is served by pages that can and do serve both appropriate and inappropriate content.
Additionally, the content on any social networking site is constantly changing, and can range from tame to inappropriate to illegal over the course of a few hours. Products that rely only on a database of category ratings have no way to deal with dynamic sites like this. The RuleSpace Realtime Category Engines examine web pages as they are being served to an Internet user and determines what type of content the page contains. There is no reliance on an URL list to perform
Realtime Categorization since the analysis is performed as the page is being delivered to the user.
For many sites there is no reason to perform this analysis, such as any site that RuleSpace has already categorized in the Online Lookup Service, and using a Realtime Engine to evaluate those sites would be a waste of resources and time.
Realtime Categorization should always be used in conjunction with Online Lookup Service and the Categorization and Filtering Interface so that an intelligent decision can be made about when to use the Realtime Engines.
